Westlake Classic Car Show

Greetings MG Enthusiasts:

The 4th Annual Westlake Classic Car Show held on 19 October 2014 was the most well attended show to date! We had 87 registrations and the public attendance was much greater due to significantly increased advance advertising and PR. This car show is dedicated to the Golden Era of the Automobile, the first 50 years of automotive history, featuring 1909 to 1959 originals or restored to near original automobiles and trucks; no hot rods, no customs, no muscle cars, just true classics! We had local newspaper coverage with a front page photo spread and story in the Keller Citizen and photos with captions in the Star Telegram.

Entries included fifteen 1909 to 1929 automobiles and trucks, seventeen 1930 to 1939 automobiles and trucks, twelve 1940 to 1949 automobiles and trucks, and forty-three 1950 to 1959 automobiles and trucks. Each decade was well represented by sedans, convertibles and pickups in each class and included many very rare and unique automobiles. Awards included 18 Best of Class, Best of Show, People’s Choice, Sponsor’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice. For additional information and to view previous car show photos, please visit our website at For additional photos, please visit these other websites,,,

We start the show with the singing of the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and an Invocation. We play 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and early 50’s music with 20 US flags surrounding the show site which is bordered with green belts, ample parking and a dedicated easy in and easy out trailer parking area. The Boy Scouts have an onsite concession and there is complimentary coffee from Starbucks. We also have three restaurants directly across the street which have space available for car club meetings.

I am sending you this e-mail to respectfully and graciously request you to consider placing the Westlake Classic Car Show on your club calendar of events and website. We would sincerely appreciate having your club participate in this car show dedicated to 1909 to 1959 original and restored to original automobiles. The show is always held on the third Saturday of October. This year the show will be held on Saturday October 17, 2015, with check-in between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, open to the public at 11:00 AM, awards ceremony at 3:00 PM and the show ends at 4:00 PM.

We require advance registration because each entry is met as they drive onto the show site by a greeter who gives them their registration packet and pre-printed window card and is then escorted/guided to their assigned parking place as the cars are placed in chronological order to provide a ‘walk through of the golden era of the automobile, the first 50 years of automotive history. Attached is the 2015 car show flyer and registration form for your reference and use. The show is limited to 100 true 1909-1959 original or restored to near original classics. Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional information concerning this show, and I hope your club chooses to participate in the 2015 show which is our 5th Anniversary show.

Very respectfully yours,

Bert Schultz 281-794-7865 mobile

The MG community has lost another good friend

Don PeeryThe MG community has lost another good friend.

Don Peery passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.

Don was one of the founding members of the North American MGB Register and attended every national meet until just recently. He won many top point awards with his cars and was always assisting other MG members with any problems they might have with their cars.

Don owned fantastic examples of the MGB LE and the factory MGB/GT V8.

It was an honor knowing him and he will be sorely missed in the MG community.

Tour to the Tombstones Rally

You’re invited to join us for the next Texas Region SCCA Road Rally on Oct 5. We will tour Grayson and Cooke Counties and visit a number of cemeteries, many of them designated historic. Course–following will be easy with mileages at every turn. All roads are paved.

Rally Day is Saturday, October 5, 2013. Registration opens at 8:30am at El Guapo’s Restaurant, in Denton at 419 S Elm St., Denton, TX 76201, phone (940) 566-5575. First car out about 9:30, and you will come back to El Guapo’s for a late lunch.

You will be directed to a number of area cemeteries in Cook and Grayson counties. At each one you will record the name, and at some of them, you will have to find another piece of information. At the end of the course you will find the cemetery names in a Word Search puzzle.

This is an SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rally. This is not a timed event, except that you do have an overall amount of time to finish the event. This time will be generous. There will be no reason to speed. Any kind of street-legal four-wheel vehicle with at least two people aboard who can read may enter. Cars built before 1950 get a little extra time.

The Rally Fee is $20.00 for SCCA Members, and $25.00 for non-members. There is a $5.00 late fee if not preregistered at There are four classes: First Timer, Novice (<3 rally trophies), General, and Master.

You will want to do online registration because then you will be mailed the rally rules a few days before the event.

Join us!

Sasha Lanz, TMGR/SCCA
